Keeping Children Safe Online

Digital Literacy Programme

At the heart of all our work is the belief that when used properly, the Internet is a wonderfully positive tool for children and young people.

We strive to take a balanced approach to digital literacy, ensuring to promote the positive opportunities availed by the Internet, respond to the risks associated with being online, and equip children and young people to deal with them.

Our goal is to ensure that young people are able to use new technologies safely and responsibly at all times. They need to be able to look after themselves and their peers and play their part in online communities as responsible digital citizens.

Social Network Sites

  • Social networking websites allow you to create your own personal online space. You can create areas that include information all about you, who you would like to meet your favorite music, films, sports.

You can also upload images or  pics onto your site making it even more personal. its a great way to connect with friends and family all over the world using different tools like chat, messaging, email, video, file sharing, blogging and many more.

People of all ages, races and abilities use these sites. They allow 2 or 3 people or even whole group that have common interests, such as music and hobbies to communicate at the same time.

However all the information you place on your page is online and that can mean that anyone anywhere in the world can see it too. As soon as your personal information is online, there are risks. if you put too much information about yourself online then anyone can find you in the real world.

Social sites help you to make lots of new friends, but remember some people use these sites for their own interests, and in turn can hurt others

Lets create a new profile page together…a profile is a new all about you…this is where you put details about who you are…your name, age etc…come join me. it’s fun!!
